Problem

• Garden was dominated by an unattractive patio

• Plants were uncohesive and not fit for purpose or taste

• Lawn was too small and felt a little ‘pointless’

• Previous bad experience with landscaper

Solution

• Reduce the patio

• Add a curved line to the bed to draw the eye, create movement, soften the hard rectangular edges of the boundary and entice you into the garden

• Lawn was extended to wrap around the patio this gave space for the dog and softened the transition from patio to garden

• A planting plan of herbaceous perennials was devised, including Gaura, Hemerocallis, Leucanthemum, Penstemon, Solidago and Rudbeckia. This added plenty of colour and year round interest as well as being low maintenance - the garden only requires 1 - 2 maintenance visits from a professional gardener per year
