“Sam brought to the project his global experience in garden design along with a most helpful and professional approach.”

Problem

  • A large neglected bed that stretched from one side of the house to another covering a variety of conditions from full sun to part shade

  • Landscaping features (retaining walls and paths) had become tired and dilapidated

  • The garden needed modernising while maintaining a relationship with the architecture of the house

Solution

  • Hard landscaping features were replaced and added to, creating a terrace which provided easier access and the opportunity for a more tiered planting effect

  • The old irrigation system was replaced ensuring good watering through the summer months and reducing maintenance hours

  • Carpet roses, violets and geraniums were removed and replaced with a more modern planting scheme. A perennial border was planted to compliment the house and included Aster, Euphorbia, Iris siberica, Leucanthemum and Stachys. Pockets of Native shrubs were also planted to provide evergreen structure and stability amongst the ebb and flow of herbaceous perennials

Result

“Sam has a wealth of botanical knowledge and understanding of what will flourish in the landscape, the soil type, suit the space and tailoring the garden design to complement the style of the surrounding architecture and landscape.

Sam’s natural ability and transformational approach to design has been valued throughout and we have no hesitation in recommending Considerate Design to prospective clients.”
